I look down at my phone and see another iMessage notification:
“Hi! I miss you too. I saw your new venture with Danielle—it looks so cool, but what exactly is it?”
This is approximately the sixth version of this message I have received.
It is a fair question. BOND × Maison Limonelle does not fit neatly into an existing category, largely because nothing quite like it exists. So rather than continuing to explain it through increasingly long text messages and voice notes, I am putting the answer here.
A Little Background—But I Promise This Is Not a Job Interview
Danielle Darah, the founder of Maison Limonelle, and I have known each other since college. If you have seen any of our conversations on social media, you may also know that it has been so many years that neither of us can do the maths particularly quickly.
Maison Limonelle is a private lifestyle advisory practice that helps a limited number of clients thoughtfully manage the parts of life that exist outside of their demanding professional schedules: wellbeing and longevity, homes and real estate, personal style, and travel.
Calling it a concierge service would undersell it.
Danielle and her team do not simply book appointments, make reservations, or hand clients a list of recommendations. They understand how a client lives, identify the right experts and opportunities, coordinate the moving pieces, and remain closely involved so that everything feels cohesive, discreet, and remarkably easy.
Danielle’s global network gives her clients access to people, properties, experiences, and providers they would be unlikely to find through a conventional search—or through a well-intentioned executive assistant with a very impressive spreadsheet.
Her work is most successful when the client barely has to see how much coordination happened behind the scenes.
My own career took a less linear path.
After college, I worked for a celebrity event planner, helping to create breathtaking weddings and events around the world. I later became a magazine editor at Condé Nast, which had been my dream job. When I moved to Chicago for my now-husband in 2016, that particular career path did not really exist outside New York, so I had to pivot to my other interest – helping people in relationships.
I briefly worked for a luxury matchmaking company, and it was there that I realised many of my clients did not simply need a better introduction or a more polished dating profile. They needed support understanding themselves, the relationships they were choosing, and the patterns that were getting in their way.
Helping them in the way I wanted to required substantially more education and training. That realisation eventually led me to pursue my masters and years of supervised training required to become a licensed marriage and family therapist. My clinical work is unique in terms of the fact that unlike most therapists who have a broader scope of practice – I exclusively work with couples, individuals and families that are there to seek help with a relationship.
I love my work as a therapist. I also remain a deeply creative person, and I missed creating memorable, beautiful experiences for people.
This is where Danielle’s work and mine began to intersect.
Why We Created BOND
Danielle and I share a belief that experiences should feel personal, thoughtful, and exceptionally well executed. We also understand that the most meaningful experiences are not necessarily the largest or most elaborate. They are the ones that feel as though they could only have been created for the people experiencing them.
Danielle knows how to design an extraordinary private world around a client.
I know how to guide the conversations that can change how two people understand, communicate with, and experience one another.
That combination became BOND.
A BOND retreat is a completely private, custom-designed relationship experience created for one couple at a time. There is no preset destination, fixed itinerary, or standardised curriculum. The location, pace, accommodations, dining, experiences, and relationship work are shaped around the particular couple—their preferences, their dynamic, and what they want the time away to accomplish.
Maison Limonelle’s travel team oversees the experience from beginning to end. I design and facilitate private, relationship-focused sessions around the couple’s goals, whether they want to reconnect, communicate more effectively, navigate a transition, deepen intimacy, or become more intentional about the life they are building together.
This is not couples therapy relocated to a beautiful resort.
It is also not a luxurious holiday with one serious conversation awkwardly wedged between a massage and dinner.
It is a deliberately designed experience in which the environment and the relationship work support one another.
When you look up “couples retreats” the options are quite grim. The type of client looking for a BOND experience care about their relationships, but they have absolutely no desire to waste time attending group lectures in a dimly lit hotel ballroom. No breakout conversations with people you have never met. No one-size-fits-all program asking every couple to move through the same material in the same order.
Relationships do not work that way, and neither do we.
Relational Wellness Is Wellness
Maison Limonelle’s work is organised around four central pillars: how you feel, where you live, how you present yourself, and where you go. Our partnership introduces an essential part of wellbeing that is often overlooked: the quality of the relationships within the life you have built.
Esther Perel has famously said, “The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives.”
Most accomplished people are highly intentional about nearly every other area of life. They seek expert guidance around their businesses, health, homes, investments, travel, and long-term performance.
Yet relationships are often expected to run on love, history, and good intentions alone.
Relational wellness means giving an important relationship the same kind of proactive attention we readily give to every other meaningful part of life. It does not require waiting until a marriage is in crisis.
Many couples are not broken. They are busy.
They are managing careers, children, travel, ageing parents, responsibilities, and the thousand small logistical demands that gradually take up the space once reserved for each other.
They may love each other deeply and still recognise that the relationship has become more functional than connected. Or they may simply understand that something this important deserves more than whatever attention remains at the end of an already full week.
What BOND Makes Possible
At its core, BOND creates the conditions for two people to step outside the machinery of daily life and give their relationship their full attention.
The destination is exceptional because the environment matters.
The planning is seamless because mental load matters.
The work is private and individualised because relationships are not one-size-fits-all, and our clients value (and often need due to professional reasons) privacy.
Time may be the one true luxury none of us can acquire more of. A BOND retreat is a decision to spend some of it intentionally on the relationship that gives everything else in life its meaning.
That is BOND.
